Statement from Shelby Kramp-Neuman Heading Into Fall Parliamentary Sitting
SEPTEMBER 16, 2024
Shelby Kramp-Neuman, Member of Parliament for Hastings-Lennox and Addington, released the following statement on her return to Ottawa heading into the Fall Parliamentary session.
“While many commentators and analysts are focusing on the collapse of the Liberal-NDP confidence and supply agreement and the possibility of a snap fall election, it is incredibly important that legislators do not lose sight of what our job actually is. The exact same issues that were prevalent on election day are still here: cost of living and affordability. Constituents don’t have the luxury of worrying about more esoteric issues when they are struggling to pay rent and afford groceries. Parliament not sitting for a few weeks has not magically solved any of these problems, nor have they gone away over the summer recess.
To be clear: my Conservative colleagues and I are ready to and have been ready to go to the polls and let Canadians have their say on the Prime Ministers record, but it is imperative that we not fixate on a potential election and risk losing sight of our duties in Ottawa. There is still far, far more work to do and I look forward to continuing to hold the Prime Minister to account by advocating for sensible economic and fiscal policies that will help ease the financial burden on not just those living in Hastings-Lennox and Addington, but the millions of Canadians that are struggling each and every day to put groceries on the table and a roof over their heads.
I vow to continue to work to restore the country we knew and love. We are back in the House of Commons this morning with our plan to axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget & stop the crime.
